POSITION TITLE: Purchasing Assistant

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Purchasing, the Purchasing Assistant provides support in all facets of procurement and in the management of specified contracts.

Accountabilities of the Purchasing Assistant:

• Obtains competitive pricing to meet customer needs;
• Assists Buyers within the purchasing function in placing orders;
• Maintains supplier relationships;
• Evaluates supplier quotations;
• Negotiates with suppliers; and
• Maintains the Purchasing Order system.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

• 2 - 3 years purchasing experience.
• Ideally, you are enrolled in the PMAC professional development program, or equivalent.
• You have experience with a computerized purchasing system and can demonstrate intermediate to advanced skills with business software applications.
• Strong organizational, customer responsiveness, communication, and teamwork skills are essential for success in this position.
• In addition, your track record must demonstrate initiative and the ability to manage multiple and shifting priorities.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

• Qualified candidates will have completed Grade 12 and have taken the PMAC Principles of Buying course (or possess equivalent post-secondary education).
