One Temporary, Full-Time Position (Up to 18 Months Maternity Leave Coverage) 

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Capital Power Corporation (CPC) has a dynamic and challenging opportunity available for a Senior Analyst, Financial Reporting to join our Western Operations team.

Reporting to the General Manager, Western Operations, the Senior Analyst, Financial Reporting will play a key role in the day to day financial reporting for CPC’s western operations.

Accountabilities of the Senior Analyst, Financial Reporting:

  • Prepares financial plans including annual budgets, annual long range plans, and forecasts;
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information for general ledger accounts;
  • Assists with the preparation of monthly financial statements;
  • Analyzes and reviews budgets and expenditures for the monthly budget variance analysis;
  • Gathers and analyzes monthly plant output, plant availability and capacity factor information from plant administrators for presentation to senior management;
  • Acts as a liaison for variance reporting and among other CPC groups, including Finance, the Generation Plants, Purchasing, etc.;
  • Assists in the procurement process, as needed;
  • Other duties/projects, as required.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • You have at least 3 years of directly related work experience - generation plant accounting experience is considered an asset.
  • You have the ability to work independently and prioritize multiple projects meeting deadlines in a timely and effective manner and are detail oriented with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • You have a dedication to exceptional performance and professionalism and are motivated and results-driven.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of applications (Word, Outlook, Excel) is required.
  • Experience with Oracle would be beneficial (specifically the purchasing and financial sections)

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • As the successful candidate, you have completed post-secondary education in Business or a related program (an MBA is an asset) and also possess, or are working towards, a Professional Designation (i.e. CGA, CMA or CA).
